Tattoo Removal

Frequently Asked Questions

Collagen Induction Therapy

How is my tattoo removed?

Intense pulsed light laser emits light in short flashes called pulses. The impact of the pulse light is akin to the snap of a rubber band as the laser moves across the skin surface. The tattoo fades as the laser breaks down the pigment.

Is the process painful?

Collagen Induction Therapy can be used on all parts of the body; Face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

Will I have a scar?

The chance of scarring is less than 5 percent, if you follow after-care instructions. The risk of scarring increases for pregnant women, people with dark skin tone, poor circulation, immune system deficiencies, for people taking Accutane or other medications or those having a history of keloids or elevated scarring.

How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?

This varies based on the size of the tattoo, the amount of ink used, type of ink, depth of ink, the location and the individual’s general health condition. Most professional tattoos take 5 to 10 treatments. We provide you with an initial consultation beforehand and strive to accomplish your goal in as few sessions as possible. Laser sessions are typically spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart.

Will the tattoo completely disappear?

Yes, in most cases. However, it’s very important to know that there are more than 100 types of tattoo inks and the FDA regulates none of them. This makes it difficult to predict the degree of removal of any tattoo.

What type of after care is necessary?

The treated site should be kept clean and dry on the day of the treatment and out of the sun. A healing ointment and bandage will be applied to the area. You can shower the next day but we recommend avoiding water activities and pressure to the site during healing.
